HI EVERYONE!
IM LOOKING FOR IDEAS, PICTURES OR DRAWINGS TO INSTAL SOMME KIND OF BRAKING SISTEM TO A BOARD, THE CASE IS THAT I LIVE IN MEXICO CITY WHERE IT EXIST A BIKE ROAD FROM ALMOST WERE I LIVE TO MY WORK PLACE (MAYBE 10 KM.) BUT FULL OF STREET CROSSINGS IN CHAOS OF CARS, SO I DONT HAVE TOO MUCH SPACE TO DO BRAKING MANOUVERS.
BEST REGARDS TO ALL. |

a) Turn of the caps, you are shouting.
b) A little research will show that there are quite a few braking systems out there - most recent one I saw was an Aussie bloke who came up with a system that invovled a specially built rear truck with drum brakes and some sort of thingie that you pressed with your foot to apply the brakes.
In short, its been done before and unless you can come up with something better and cheaper then you may be destined to be swamped in the crowd I'm sorry to say. |

The two options I use:
To slow down moderately at under 30mph or so
and to come to a complete stop in as short a distance as possible

Thanks a lot guys
I think I will come up with some invention to do, the problem is that in this crazy car dominated city you have to stop really fast, really for your life, I will figure it out and for shure share it with pictures, maybe it will be usefull for someone in the same situation, anyway if some one has another idea it will be welcome too.
Sorry for the caps from the first message....
Best for all. |

As mentioned, there are several commercially available brake kits for skateboards already. For example, Skate Brake:
