I was out there in October and skated that spot with Gary and his crew. He let me use his 360 board. I have always done 360s backside -- not good for high numbers. I've never been able to do more than maybe 2 frontside. Those 360 wheels are amazing. On my 3 or 4 try I doubled my number of FS 360s to 5.
My goal for this year, skate wise, it to relearn 360s going frontside, now that i know I can do it. |

Bob, you can do it! I want to hear all about it when you start hitting the 20's or 30's!
yes, the steel wheels "Spinners" from SK8KINGS are the best, ZERO traction and tons of momentum.

I can do a 180.
Used to be able to do quite a few. Once you get in "the spot" you just keep going.
Off topic, but Gary Holl just sent me one of his models (complete) as a gift. I was blown away to say the least. Thanks, Gary! I'll be honing some old FS moves soon. |

We should start a thread of what tricks to learn and in what order for us guys who took a break and came back.

I did 1 and 1/2 yesterday. FS on an 8 wheeler. Basically like trying a 360 riding your kitchen table. |

I occasionally try to do them on a longboard. that's fun but super weird. You can get SO much momentum, but your body's never ready for it.
I've yet to get past 540. |

I used to be able to do 4 or 5 tops back in the 70's... today, maybe one-and-a-half .
360's were the measuring stick of how good a skater you were in the early days- " How many 360's can you do ?" was a common question.
If you were a skater in the mid 70's, more than likely you were a versatile skater- some freestyle, some slalom, and some vert too.
Todays kids- even the good street skaters- seem pretty limited, especialy in the basics.
Oh yeah, back in the day, my buddy and I were awesome at riding catamaran. No hill or parking garage ramp was to fast for us. |
