The report mentioned below contains my persuasive words and doctored photos.

On Wednesday, December 10, the Parks and Recreation Commission endorsed a recommendation to continue our rule prohibiting BMX use of the Groton Skate Park. I've attached a copy of the report I prepared and presented to them for your information.

Although we arrived at a conclusion that may not please you in the short term, I want to thank all of you for your input in the process. I also want to assure you that as we continue our master planning process, we will look closely at the possibility of developing a facility for BMX riders in Groton.

I encourage you to keep in touch and to share any ideas you have about how we can meet the needs of BMX riders in the community.

Best regards,

Jerry Lokken, CPRP
Manager of Recreation Services
Groton Parks and Recreation

While I am happy not to have to dodge bikes; of all the skate parks in SE CT and RI Groton is probably the only one that could both support and withstand bikes. Of course actually having a place for bikes would be better. Westerly gave them loads of dirt but it's next to the skatepark

bike park in groton?!?! i cant wait to skate it! haha

this shit has clearly gotten out of hand, bikes have always been not permitted in the park, but for the past year or so most of them have either been there in the mornings, at night, or there on days where theres not many people. most of them have learned that they're a safety hazard, especially to all the smaller kids. chances are some dumbass fucking parent complained to the town and brought up dumb ideas to build a bike park, which is probably going to cut into the funds that we've been raising to build more at the skatepark. this is just bullshit.
