Since your pretty close, you guys could take a drive up to Leadville. Its a old mining town, and the highest town in North America. It sits at a little over ten thousand feet, and is surrounded by some fourteen thousand mountain peaks like Mt Elbert. Theres alot of history up there. |

I'm heading out there this morning. Hopefully I'll get some pics.
Be back on Tuesday. |

I'm back.. had a blast. I wasn't quite prepared for the altitude change and got a chest cold, but I toughed it out. Safeway no longer had the discount tickets, but we found some coupon books with 2 for 1 lift tickets at King's Sooper. So that worked out great.
We went to Winterpark. It's a great resort. A lot of the slopes are a little more groomed then I'd prefer, but they were still nice. Lots of options made each run a new adventure. Most all of the blacks were frigging moguled to death though. That sucked.
The rail yard and super pipe were nice, but I didn't try too much. I was trying to break in a new board and boots, so I took it fairly easy. Once I got comfortable with the new gear I had some fun.
The other guys and I went snowmobiling on Sunday. That was a blast.
The weather was great the whole time we were out there, so that was a big plus.
It would have been nice to check out Steamboat or one of the other resorts, but there just wasn't time. Hopefully next time, we can go for a week or more. |

I got a Burton Custom wide 162 ics. I know a lot of people bag on burton stuff, but the custom is a great board. It's good for about anything you want to give it. I went with Burton Cartel est bindings.
I tried on several brands of boots, but went with the Burton Ion. It's well built and comfy. It's also got the speed lacing system. Thats' something I've never tried before. They're awesome. |
