Hi
Some of you may know that I have moved from UK to Turkey in April and I took some of my boards with me. well, I hung them on the walls. Lately, weather went crazy here! around + 40 Celsius and very humid ! and today I saw a stress crack on the tail of my mint PP guerrero iron gate! I m pretty sure that it was not there when I first bought the board. but also it might happened when I was moving and I didn't see it when I put it on the wall. would these hot conditions can cause stress cracks on the decks? and would it warp them? I must say I have checked other boards and they are fine.
thanks

Every deck is different but acclimation for all decks is the same,,,very slowly. Dehumidifier in the area is key. Heat is not the factor unless its extreme, you really don't want more than 40 degree swings on a regular basis
A fan on a timer is a good idea, keep air moving if you can

I've had my rider Target in the trunk of my car over the past few weeks with the heat flip flopping up and down. I've noticed stress cracks on the tail and coming off the bolt holes, but no warp That being said its a rider and I don't really care about it.

My last apartment was on the 4th floor with central air which was constantly regulated even with that being the case i noticed a couple small twists in boards that previously had not had them. But the same exact deck in a different color was unaffected.

the whole climate thing still confuses the shit out of me.

according to Paul Schmitt's contribution in the Disposable bible, sudden changes in the air humidity can cause warps and/or stress cracks... so I'd say a DEhumidifier can do harm as well...

I'm suspecting some of my decks have warped due to temperatures around 30C°, and I think the air was rather too dry than anything else.

pick a deck you consider "mint" - observe. if you think it starts to warp or develop stress cracks, you better figure out a plan B...(not the company)

I had posted a similar thread right here :

I tried using a humidifier when I was in arizona because its sooo dry, actually think it did more harm then good, so probally wouldnt even try a dehumidifier, I think it was the somewhat constant fluctuation that affected them more then anything.

Just moved from AZ to Maine and the humidity here is pretty high, all my boards are bagged and boxed for at least a month or two (which really sucks) while they adjust to the enviornment here.

High temperatures and dry or humide air are not good for your wood. If I were you I would aircondition the area were your decks are. High temperatures and dry air give stress cracks, humidity can give more chance to warping....
How much is the humidity in there right now??
Pretty strange though you got stress cracks with humide air. I would suspect more warping iso stress cracks with high humidity in combination with such temperatures.

I don't think it really matters since they probably have been at temperatures all over the place since they were made 20 - 30 years ago.
The worst is probably if they go from -10F on the Airplane during shipping to 100F when they arrive at your sunny beach resort.

Wood is wood and it will do it's thing even worse a skateboard that is 7 different woods and will do 7 different things at the same time.

Stop thinking about what its worth and you won't mind the stress cracks.
